Designed by Ferroconcrete in Los Angeles, these colourful cookies speak to you off the shelves with very clever insights on well, cookies! Such refreshing packaging design always brightens up the aisles of a supermarket.

On a side note, this was on Ferroconcrete’s site: “How do you fall in love? You may be attracted to the looks, but you fall in love with the personality. It’s the same for any brand. It’s our job to fall in love with your brand and pass it on.” What a lovely way to describe a brand. Why can’t more advertising folk speak like this?

Good design is for good clients

I wish I could stamp this on my client’s foreheads. Or on their briefs. Designed by vbg as a new years compliment to their clients, these stamps read “Good design is for good clients”. So simple and so true.

Twixl Chalk Movie

I came across this amazing video today. With uplifting old school music and the sheer talent of these two artists, it’s a joy to watch. I don’t know how they draw so perfectly without any outlined markings anywhere. The messages are simple, and somehow, as simple as it is, it makes me want to do better. Bonnard

Macaroons always get the prettiest packaging designs. These are from Mexico based studio Anagrama. Sampling the brush strokes of French postimpressionist Pierre Bonnard, the line was designed for a tea and confectionary shop. The overall look is both effortless and classy. Those pastel colour combinations are lovely too.

BMD Design

Based in France, BMD Design cranks out the best looking hand lettering out there. It’s urban and grungy but classy all the same. Take a look at what I mean.

Bracket

I need to get my hands on all 8 volumes of Bracket – a sleek publication that features ideas, sketches and processes. The collection contains volumes on craft, hunger, ethics, failure and spirit to name a few. I love the sexy minimal image on the outside and the scatterbrain sketches covering the inner pages.

   

Holiday/Apocalypse Survival Kit

I love me a good survival kit. These kits designed by Trigger are in such stark contrast to each other that both would be great to hand out to friends for Christmas.

Oh and WordPress was a little weird for me yesterday but it’s all back to normal this fine morning. (Yay!).

Dieter Rams once asked himself if his design was good. A simple but insightful question. Soon afterward he came up with a sort of checklist of commandments that is still of use today.

By the way, am I the only one who thinks the new WordPress makes it really difficult to post in such a tiny box. Also uploading photos was a lot easier when we could dump all the photos in at once.
