Draw Your Mind

Of all the TED Talks, my favourite is Sir Ken Robinson’s enlightening talk on Changing the Paradigms of Education, illustrated and animated by the very talented artists at RSA Animate.  Each illustration cleverly links to the next point with quirky and fun drawings. Here are a few random illustrations from other videos by RSA Animate.

A Minibar for the Mind

The Minibar is a genius custom-made box created exclusively  by The School of Life that encourages idea generation. If you visit Morgans Hotel, you’ll get one of these babies. How lovely instead of a typical envelope and notepad. Together, they form little pieces of a beautiful puzzle for creativity.

Here’s what’s included in each Minibar:

  • Conversation Starters: A box set of 250 cards featuring questions, quotations and provocations
  • Collected Thoughts (Vol.1): A volume of the best columns written byThe School of Life’s faculty and friends, such as Alain de Botton and Ken Worpole
  • Reading Prescriptions: Two tailor-made reading prescriptions from The School of Life’s Bibliotherapists designed to evoke moods of relaxation or seduction
  • Dreams & Fears Notebook: An open book and a blank page to write down your dreams and fears
  • Writer’s Block Pencil Set: A set of three pencils with quotes from authors Mark Twain, George Orwell, and Laurence Sterne

Poke Life

“The minute that you understand that you can poke life and actually something will pop out the other side, that you can change it, you can mold it. That’s maybe the most important thing. It’s to shake off this erroneous notion that life is there and you’re just gonna live in it, versus embrace it, change it, improve it, make your mark upon it. I think that’s very important and however you learn that, once you learn it, you’ll want to change life and make it better. The minute that you understand that you can poke life and actually something will pop out the other side, that you can change it, you can mold it. That’s maybe the most important thing. I think that’s very important and however you learn that, once you learn it, you’ll want to change life and make it better, cause it’s kind of messed up, in a lot of ways. Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”
