What do people talk about nowadays? At cafes, at dinners. What are we really talking about? Are we gossiping? Are we backbiting? Are we saying what matters most to us to the people who matter the most? Here’s a question about questions: Are we asking the right ones?
The very creative folk at The School Of Life have it all figured out. (By the way, they are the same geniuses who came up with A Minibar for the Mind). They have now created One Hundred Questions you can answer or ask at your next get together with friends. Each card poses a question that is sure to start a meaningful conversation. Topics include:

This is something I have wondered about for a long time , if you get talking to a stranger say in a supermarket over the price of sugar,where does the conversation end up. I have done this lots of times and met some lovely people with great stories to tell of their past and future dreams. And when we leave company I smile to myself and feel refreshed for the day.
But you do get some who just moan about the price if sugar, and the want to put the world to right……thank you for listening to me….

This is a nice idea, even though I never run out of topics to talk about when I meet my friends. ;-) But what I really like is the design of the cards and the package.
Food for thought. That makes for a nice coffee conversation:)

These are wonderful! I use my ‘Q&A A Day’ journal for starting conversations with friends and for examining my own perceptions, but many of the questions there don’t require that much thought. These cards seem to have questions that would really spark something.
On a questions theme, have you ever read the book The Interrogative Mood by Padgett Powell? If not, I recommend it. It’s a novel written entirely in questions. It’s actually subtitled ‘A Novel?’ – I think that’s more appropriate!
Ooh a Q&A journal is really interesting. Especially for asking yourself questions.

It’s really cool – every page has a different date and question, and then space to answer it in five different years. This is only my second year of owning the journal, and it’s nice to see how I’ve changed in some ways and stayed the same in others!
