Towel Folding Infographics

Look no further. I have found the answer to the question you have been asking all your life – how do they fold these napkins like this?  Terry Fabrics has come up with a towel-folding infographic that teaches you how to fold your towels in the shapes of animals! I’m going to try the mouse and the crab. Everything else looks like some serious origami that I cannot fathom.

Hotel Daniel & Daniel Paper

Welcome to a world in and of itself. Known simply as Hotel Daniel, the establishment is a designer’s dream. Created with style and indie goodness, the hotel has a hammock in rooms and art on the roof. Even better, Daniel Paper – a beautifully crafted magazine filled with the very best of the hotel. I do love me some crisp publishing design. This has made it to my list of must-see places!

Clouds and rainbows

Gongdreen believes that when everyday objects meet the right design, it can change the cold to warm and the ordinary to special.” That’s a liner from Gongdreen’s site and it really is true. A table filled with fun stationery like this makes every day at work play doesn’t it? Eyeing both the rainbow tape and the silver cloud.

Prediction Coasters

Coasters just got fun people.

These four coasters have predictions on them! Each coaster provides fortunes for a different aspect of your life: Love, Happiness, Career and Adventure. I love the simple yet very appealing predictions. My favourites are Meet a handsome stranger, You will travel around the world, You will reconnect with an old flame and You will meet someone who makes you swoon. Designed by the good people at Seamless Creative.

Meagan Tidwell

I found these pretty rocks online that led me to Meagan Tidwell, a calligrapher who writes on lots of unusual mediums. My favourite are the rock place card holders. I haven’t seen lettering on anything besides wedding invitations and envelopes.

Twixl Chalk Movie

I came across this amazing video today. With uplifting old school music and the sheer talent of these two artists, it’s a joy to watch. I don’t know how they draw so perfectly without any outlined markings anywhere. The messages are simple, and somehow, as simple as it is, it makes me want to do better. To be better and follow my dreams. Watch the video here. Happy Monday everyone!

The Event Of A Thread

I love swings. I had one as a child outside both our old houses. I long for the day I can have one in a home of my own. For those of you in New York, swing away indoors at this uber fun installation. You have visual artist Ann Hamilton to thank. She’s the brains behind the multimedia installation titled The Event Of A Thread. There are 42 swings hung from a high ceiling just waited to be used. (Come to think of it if they were just displayed on their own they would already be beautiful). But how amazing is it that you can actually use the swings and relive childhood memories!

I had to include this beautifully written excerpt from Ann’s site:

“I can remember the feeling of swinging—how hard we would work for those split seconds, flung at furthest extension, just before the inevitable downward and backward pull, when we felt momentarily free of gravity, a little hiccup of suspension when our hands loosened on the chain and our torsos raised off the seat. We were sailing, so inside the motion—time stopped—and then suddenly rushed again toward us. We would line up on the playground and try to touch the sky, alone together.”

The Event Of A Thread is currently on display at Park Avenue Armory until January 6, 2013.

Laura Carlin

Lookie, little hand painted animals! The cutest things. They’d make for great posters in nurseries or even in the living room. I’ve got my eye on the first one. Designed by Laura Carlin, little people, animals and buildings are all intricate and bathed in water colour goodness.
