Mini Street Art

I’ve always felt that every part of the street, city, building, country if you will, should be artistic.

Joe Iurato is making that happen one tiny step at a time with little wooden figurines that blend into an urban environment. Can you imagine walking to work and finding one of these little pieces of art? That sounds like a good day in the making to me.

Electricity in the dark

Ooh, neon paint! Doesn’t that just turn up the volume of your Wednesday? I love this series of glow in the dark portraits by Hid Saib. Flickers of luminescent neon paint turn into works of art on these girls faces. I feel like these are screen shots from a very cool music video.

The Q

Designed by Andreas M Hansen, the Q is the world’s first social camera. In today’s world we’re all about connecting and sharing no? This very hipster/cool/clever invention has amazing design aesthetics all round. From their advertising to the product itself and all its applications.

I particularly like the Q’s manifesto:

To get the most out of life, you have to embrace the new. There are new places, and new people. New experiences, and new feelings. New highs…and new lows. But it’s always worth giving it a shot. After all, if we never did anything out of the ordinary, then no one would have any stories to tell. We wouldn’t be able to make moments special. Memories wouldn’t be worth sharing. So, it’s a good thing we can make the ordinary extraordinary. Because if you don’t limit your expectations, you’ll find that there’s no end to the possibilities. You can do the unexpected. You can go the extra mile. You can live in the moment. So give it a shot. Shoot for the sky. Shoot for the stars. Just shut up and shoot.”

Hotel Daniel & Daniel Paper

Welcome to a world in and of itself. Known simply as Hotel Daniel, the establishment is a designer’s dream. Created with style and indie goodness, the hotel has a hammock in rooms and art on the roof. Even better, Daniel Paper – a beautifully crafted magazine filled with the very best of the hotel. I do love me some crisp publishing design. This has made it to my list of must-see places!

Ink+Oil

Milan based freelancer Alberto Seveso has an eye for capturing movement in photographs. Specifically, high speed liquid photography. The Italian photographer also cleverly mixes ink colours,  and glossy oil so what you end up with is this mystical image that you can stare at for a very very long time.

1000 Lives

I love me some good artistic film. Christian Dior has launched “1000 Lives”, a new Dior Homme film featuring Robert Pattinson. It captures a character so beautiful in hidden moments that feel like memories.  It makes me want to spend a weekend with my camera, exploring everything everywhere.

Parisian Postcards

In celebration of the weekend approaching, here are postcards of the monochromatic mystique and colours of passion that are Paris. Concept store Colette commissioned Parisian graphic designer Leslie David for postcards depicting Parisian scenery. I love the stark contrast of old photographs against the mush of thick paints. I want these!

Cityshrinker

Let’s go on an adventure around the world shall we? Tilt-shift style.

Thanks to Melbourne-based photographer Ben Thomas, we can. He has transformed major cities around the world into miniature works of art with the power of tilt-shift. Now doesn’t that just brighten up your Wednesday?

Laure de Sagazan

I don’t usually post about fashion but I just had to after seeing these beautiful photographs of Laure de Sagazan’s designs. I’ve seen a few online and was so glad to have stumbled upon her site and discovered even more pretty pictures. The art direction, the clothes, the femininity of it all – it’s all so delicate and lovely.
